Working!!

So Ms. Stacey's got me helping her out with Ms. Concierge. I just never know the adventures I'm going to get involved in with this lady!! But she always tries to help out when she can. So in my "down time" we'll see what I concierge.

Today she has a client moving so we have to direct the movers what needs to be moved, watch them move it and then tell them where to put it at the new house. Whoooo! Doesn't sound like a whole lot, but man! Was it a full day! I felt like I was in a reality TV show! Drama to the highest, but very entertaining. The client just happened to be the daughter of Nascar racer, Kyle Petty, who has recently married.

So fun! And it was neat to see Kyle Petty. Though I have to admit, I had no idea who he was before today! Sorry Nascar fans!! He's real laid pack and kinda' hung out and watched everything unfold, but Mrs. Petty makes up for that and goes 1,000 miles a minute at least!!

It was a full day and I know I'll sleep well tonight! As those poor movers! God bless the people that do the manual labor jobs!! And I should hope they buy stock in ibuprofen!!

He is my ROCK

So glad in this world where things are constantly changing, people are unfaithful, the economy is depressing, politics is a joke, every one's looking out for their own good, weather patterns and conditions are as they've never been before, wars are transpiring, deceitfulness and greed runs rapid in Corporate America, people live for here and now, eating a particular food purchased at the local grocery store can possibly end your life as well as being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In this crazy, mixed-up world where things are so unstable, unreliable, inconsistent, erratic, and haphazard . . . I am just so thankful I have a rock, the ROCK.

Life comes at you fast . . .

Wow! It's days like today when I'm glad I blog so I can recollect all my thoughts at a future, more clear, time and now I'm realizing it's times like these when thoughts are so jumbled I don't have a clue what to say. Does that make any sense? So . . .

Just when life is rolling along happily ever after or so it seems, the rug is pulled quickly out from under your feet, almost toppling you over, but in such a way that you're still standing, but barely, and your whole world is left spinning around.

Such was my day. Things have been a little strange at work, but not this strange. I got the call from Mr. CEO this afternoon and he said they won't be needing me anymore and today was my last day. Whoa! Love these companies I work for and how they do things ever so professionally!!! Of course, by nature of the way things are run this comes as no "real" surprise. But nevertheless, jobless is not really where I want to be right now.

The thought of getting up and "going" to work is scaring me. Like having to actually get out of bed and be dressed, out the door and in car. And gas prices. And the recession. And rising unemployment rates. And not being able to take my break to see Charity any time during the day. And working around Gramma's chemo schedule. And getting Charity to school and back home. And realizing Christian school is a fantasy and public school is the reality. And so much for the pool we were looking to purchase. And all the fears and worries that come with such a change in life. But I should be used to this, we've been through this valley before.

The lady at "The Tennessean" called me today and asked me if I wanted to continue receiving the weekday addition now for only 2-something a week because our free trial has expired. (We'd accepted a year free trial back in 2005 and they're just now figuring this out?!?! Yay for us!!) And even though we've enjoyed it immensely, I decided we could obtain the same information online. So I informed Ms. Tennessean that today I would make a conscious effort to be green and go online for that daily information. Newspapers are probably going to obsolete, antiques someday, but at least I've done my part to save a tree . . . or two!!

The Long Ride Home


Dave & Charity @ the Lodge this morning.

On our adventure back home today. Dave decided he wanted to stop and visit some other state parks on the way home to see if they would be places we would considering returning for a visit. I think I lost track after the 5th one!! Seriously, the Land between the Lakes, Lake Barkley, and we even visited the Paris Landing Tennessee State Park. It was quite a drive. There were times, I think even Dave was wondering if we were going to make it home we were so deep in the woods!!

Our first stop was at the Kentucky Dam State Park, because they were supposed to have horse back riding. Charity had been looking forward to this all week. But due to the rain, they were closed. She almost burst in tears. But we promised we do something else fun. I think after the 6 hour in the car, she lost all hope of that happening!!

But all of sudden . . . she was in luck. Well, at least we tried to convince her of that. We paid five dollars to drive in this bison range, just like Oregon Trail. At first we didn't see anything, but as we keep driving we found them. Here they are . . . like Charity, don't get too excited!!

Well, it wasn't going to be the most exciting ride home for her. But we hoped our stop at Patti's 1880 Settlement would at least cheer up and maybe she'd take a nap for the remainder of the ride home.

We did all enjoy Patti's. It was so delicious!! I loved it. Dave got the famous 2-inch pork chop. Unbelievably yummy. I had a beautiful Aloha Chicken Salad, almost too pretty to eat. And I even finished my Boatsinker Pie, with a little help from Dave and Charity. Yumm! Everything I expected. And I love the little flower pot bread with Strawberry butter. It's definitely worth going, if even just a day trip.


Found this picture on the camera. Charity wanted to take a picture of her "Croc". We got this little trinket for her at the gift shop hoping it would make for a quieter ride home. No such luck. 4 year-old in the car for more than a couple hours, not a good combination.


We finally made it home about 8:30 pm this evening! Needless to say, it must have been a real relaxing vacation, because I came home unpacked everything and even started the laundry. I never do that, never ever!! But it felt good!! I told Dave, I guess we need to go on more "Red-Neck" Vacations!!

Golf, Playground, Nap, Swim . . . sounds like vacation to me!!

Early, very early morning we started our day on the Pennyrile Forest State Golf Course. I do agree with Dave about the early tee time. We did have the entire course to ourselves. So we were able to take our time, Charity did all Dave's putting and we got to take turns driving. The weather was perfect and not too hot, yet.








I was getting a little bored toward the end of the 18 holes, but when I caught this shot it made the whole game worth my while!! Look for the ball . . . Ha!!


Later we were able to go to the playground for Charity.

We weren't there too long, when the warm afternoon sun and our very early morning started catching up with us!


Some more pool time after a nap . . . Charity met a little 4 year-old friend, Tallia, so I could not get her out of the pool. I know I'm going to be as red as Elmo tomorrow!! But I'm glad she's having fun!!


And believe it or not Charity and Daddy were both up for a round of tennis this evening! I guess that nap did some good!


Tomorrow we're heading out. And I'm so excited we're going to Patti's 1880 Settlement!! I've heard all about this place . . . so I can't wait to see what all the rage is about!!

A Day at the Lake

We headed out early this morning for the lake, where we rented a pedal boat. Dave and Charity fished and I sunned. After a few hours of that, we headed for the shore. Charity and I had the whole beach to ourselves. Then a Gramma and her grandson showed up. The little guy wanted to go fishing so bad, so Dave took him out for probably another hour while Charity and tubed and played in the sand.



Charity was getting a little bored on the pedal boat until I let her dangle her feet in the water. Scared me to death, but she loved it and it kept her cool.

All of sudden the local red-necks showed up. Dave took that as his que to come in from the lake and rescue us girls on the beach. Smart guy!! Whooozers!! Dave said it well. He said, "Our picnic turned into a "hicknic"!! Of course, the little guy was sad, as they hadn't caught any fish yet.

We spent the rest the afternoon relaxing. Went into Hopkinsville for dinner. We couldn't find any local specialties, but had an awesome meal at O'Charleys. Their Chili-Lime Chicken was awesome!! Yuummmm, oh I could go for some right now again!

Back to lodge . . . for an evening swim.

Dave's tee time is at 7:30 am tomorrow morning. He obviously doesn't know the meaning of vacation!! Charity and I said we'd go golfing with him before he came out of the clubhouse with such an early scheduled start time!! Oh well, it's vacation . . . who needs sleep!!

Kun-tuck-eeee

We made it to Kentucky . . . we are way up in the sticks! Hardly any cell phone service and the advertised wireless Internet service is not working . . . surprise!! But things are pretty nice. The hotel isn't too bad. Nice pool. Very rustic. I'm not too impressed with the restaurant food, but we didn't expect too much in this department, so that's okay.

Once we checked-in and check everything out, we went for a little family game of mini-golf. Absolutely cheesy course, but family fun none the less!

Charity was in such good spirits last night after we arrived (from taking a nap on the way here), so we after dinner we even got a couple hours of swimming in at the pool, which we had all to ourselves.

Now it's off to bed. Dave bought his fishing license for tomorrow. I'm sure he'll want to get his money's worth, so we'll probably be at the lake all day!

We're going on Va-K-Tion!!!

So I work today and then right at 2pm we leave to pick up Charity from school and head off to Kentucky. It's going to fun . . . mostly because we've never been there. It's an adventure!! And we can't wait to spend time together relaxing. FUN . . . FUN!!

Dave is off to take the Asian young people to the Tennessee State Museum this morning, since it's free and he started his vacation yesterday afternoon. I'm sure they'll be thoroughly thrilled with it, but it gets them out of the houses that they've been trapped in all summer.

Well, I've got lots to tidy up, finish packing and actually complete some XRT stuff all before 2pm . . . fun days!

One more day . . .

Tomorrow's the day we head out on our "Red-Neck" vacation, as I named it. We're going up to some lake in Kentucky to paddle boat, swim, fish, play mini-golf and whatever else we can find to do for 4 days.

Charity and I were in Publix on Saturday and she was asking for more food than we needed. I said, "Charity, we don't need a whole lot. We're leaving for vacation in a couple days." Some dude in the same isle said, "Take me, take me." I kindly chuckled. Then he said, "Where are you going?" I responded, "Ohhh, we're just headed up to Kentucky for a few days." He was visibly let down. I guess I'm not the world traveler I appear to be!! Anyway, it should be an fun, adventure, red-neck or not!!

Dave's off until next Monday. But I've got to work tomorrow and Charity's got school . . . so I'm off for some zzzzzzzzzzzz's.

I sound like a penquin??

Had to blog this one!!

Charity's decided she doesn't like her voice today. When I asked her why she said, "I sound like a penguin." Too funny!! I tried not to laugh and explained to her that I love her voice and then gave her the "it's what God gave you" spiel.

I think she was just being silly! But you never know. And anyway I love penguins!!

A Dad like mine . . .

Called my Dad to wish him "Happy Father's Day" and he was making Apple Crumb Cake Cobbler in his dutch oven on the grill. 15 coals on bottom and 10 on top makes it 350 degees. Bake for 45 minutes and wa-la!! This is classic "Gary". He's a unique man, but I guess that's what I love about him!!

Blaaaaaaaaaahhhhh . . . work!!

Oh I don't know how I do it. Get with these crazy companies that make a doormat out of me!! I guess it's partially my fault, that I let them.

Got a call yesterday after I was off the clock from Mr. Owner. Today I'm feeling the repercussions of not taking care of his request, when I clearly let him know I was not at home, off the clock, and unavailable to do so.

So what's a girl to do . . . .

His email: If that was the case you should have told me you could not do it so I could do or get someone else. We should have never had the tech show up and make us look bad.

My sweet email back: Oh, I'm so sorry I wasn't clearer. Next time I'll make sure we're both on the same page before I hang up, so we don't look bad.

To make things clear for everyone, should you call/text/email me with a request after 2 pm, please assume it will not be processed until the next day after 8 am when I'm on the clock. I don't mind taking your calls and I may get to it sooner, but I can never know. With all Gramma's chemo, I have Charity way more than previously, so no telling where I'll be or what I'm doing. If and when this chemo is done, it may be a different story.

Hope this is coming across correctly. I do all I can for XRT and I'm sorry this happened.

And in this crazy world . . .

Oh dear, it was a crazy day again!! I hate it when that happens. Feels like I leave planet Earth and venture to some strange land. Today it was as if everyone in the world wanted to talk to me. I didn't see the sign on me that said, "Talk to me, I'll give you money!" Finally, Charity said, "Why does everyone talk to you?" I couldn't answer that with anything more than a laugh. Strange, from all my old co-workers at Target to the little girl at Wal*Mart that explained to me her mom was making her "crazy" for having to try on clothes. It was weird . . .


We collect things . . . so we got our 2nd Rowenta, replaced. I guess the one we sent in was unrepairable. Now we've got two. Since there's not a lot of longevity in one of these things, I think that's a good thing!


I love packages!! Got my second package of the day! My Southern Living 2007 Annual Recipes . . . so I can cook like a southerner!! He! Hopefully the book cook by itself!! :p Also included a mini bar pan and spatula and Mini Bar Cookbook! Whoo hoo! I figured when I was craving something in bar form it would be better to have a little pan of oohey, gooey bar-goodness than the traditional 13- x 9-inch pan!! Good thinking, right?!?!


Charity's loving school [Mother's Day Out], but man! is she exhausted after the day. It took me 2 hours after picking her up to be cordial and stop whining. Almost makes me consider homeschooling . . . only for second though!!


And to wear her out to the max, after dinner we head to Kingston Springs to the playground and a little Sonic Treat.


Then home, bath and bed!!! I've never seen her fall asleep so fast!!

Easy, Breezy Friday Evening!

Had a super, fun night at the Red Caboose Park in Bellevue: Tales at Twilight happening every Friday in June. This week was a steel drum band. It was all kid-orientated, with a bubble machine, balloons and such. We packed a picnic dinner and headed over. Charity had fun watching the children dance and doing the limbo to the calypso tunes, but didn't quite want to join in. She did however get on board for a snowcone!! So fun!
To end the perfect evening we headed down to Maggie Moo's for a delightful, cone treat!! Yummmmm!!! Now off for some zzzzzzzzzz's!

CMA Festival ~ The Clark Brothers

Just to be completely cultured all around, had to make a visit to the CMA Festival . . . and not to mention I love these guys (music, that is!!!). Luckily I found someone who was brave enough to venture downtown to the Hard Rock Cafe for the 11:30 PM venue. I had a great time with Valerie, Brian and Brittney. Their first concert took place outside the Hard Rock Cafe.Notice the fireworks going off in the distance! An absolutely perfect night!
I'm thinking my bad photography is just cool!!
They did so well!! And I love the new songs. Can't wait for the CD!!

Poor Brittney, Valerie used her as bait that night and then shoved us in the picture. You can see I was real miserable!!

Product Review: Ayala's Herbal Water

I absolutely love it. But I do like weird beverages. I definitely am a "Moxie" kind of girl. But that's because I'm from Maine [from Wikipedia: Moxie was designated on May 10, 2005, as the official state soft drink of Maine.]
Anyway, on to Ayala's. I'm not a super huge fan of flavored water, but do drink it since I really have a hard time stomaching plain water. But this water is not really flavored . . . it's more like spiced, thus the herbal infusion. So far I've tried the Lemongrass Mint Vanilla and the Cloves Cardamom Cinnamon. They're both a spicy sensation, but Cinnamon is my thing!! Hot and refreshing all at the same time!! Can't wait to try the rest!

Then there's the slogan "zero is good". We Weight Watchers love anything to do with ZERO!! And not only is it a big fat nothing on the points counter, it lists all the healthy benefits of each herb added. How cool! Yummy and healthy . . . that makes it "blog worthy"!

The only sad part being, I found these at Big Lots (hope they're not contaminated!!). But their product line is quite hit or miss. I'll have to keep my eye out for my new Happy Herbal Bliss. But for now I'm headed to Big Lots to load up!

. . . btw: forget everything I just "said", and don't go to Big Lots and buy them until I find another local distributor and there's enough for everyone!!
