Working for the weekend . . .

This working thing is sooooo hard. I'm so thankful I like what I'm doing or it would be a whole lot worse, but I'm an emotional wreck being away from Charity. I can just sit there at that computer and start tearing up just thinking of her. I've become a pro at making those faces that keep your tears in, so the people I'm working with don't know I'm losing my mind. When I look at the clock and it's nearly 2 o'clock, it's the worst. I think for a second, "Oh, I've got to head out soon and get Charity." Then reality. Nope! It's just miserable.

This is the first time I've worked full-time since before she was born, so I guess it will take some getting used to. How do people do this when their child is 3 months-old? Maybe it's easier when they're younger. This is treacherous for me! And I can barely talk to Dave on lunch break, as it just reminds me what I'm missing! :( Uuuggg, Dave says this too shall pass. Hopefully!!

So when I made it home today from my first week of work, I am SO happy that it is Friday. Two entire days with the people I love and no work. Back to living for the weekends! Even though it's going to be a busy one: getting ready for Grumpy's visit next week and lots of baking to do for Sunday's bake sale. Oh well . . . it's the weekend!!

Have a good one!!

My First Day

I made it through my first day. I think the greatest challenge was the drive home in the beating rain in the dark after staring at a computer screen for 8 hours.

It's going to take me a little getting used to my training hours of 11 am - 8 pm. But after these first two weeks, I should be able to switch to some more "normal" daytime hours.

It's been a ride of mixed emotions, but I know it's what's best. I was crying this morning when Dave and I told Charity, I wouldn't be home until after she was asleep. :'( And even though though they released me early today, Dave was so good and she was already asleep when I got home at 8 pm.

For today it was fairly easy, almost boring. But I'll be learning more over the next few days, overall I really like it and am looking forward tomorrow. But I need lots of rest, so it's off to bed now!

Good night!!

. . . . and see working is not all bad. Here's the salad Dave had made me for dinner when I got home! He's so sweet when I'm working! Love him! (If you can't tell, the tomatoes are in a heart-shape!! . . . .

1..2..3..4..5..6..7!!

I think I'm liking 2009 better already!! I'm having a change of heart, a positive attitude!

Today I joined the class of working women! I GOT A JOB!! Though I have thoroughly enjoyed my 7 months off, reality has hit and I feel okay with it! And I'm woman and am completely subject to change my mind at any time! Just a warning!! :P

Ask me how happy I am about missing Charity's first field trip . . . trying not to think about these things. Believing God for every step along the way!! I know He is completely in charge, because, get this: If you've read the bible and study God and numbers at all you know 7 is His number of completion. This is so hard to believe, but it's things like this that make me trust God all the more. It was exactly 7 months ago today that I was unemployed!! June 26th was my first day unemployed and January 26th was last day unemployed!! Is God not good?!?!

So I start tomorrow . . . so my blogging will be far fewer and much shorter. Need to start sleeping a lot more, and though I'd love to share all the details of my new position and how it all came about, I must head to bed. Sorry . . . all 2 readers of this blog!!

Good night!

From: Barbara & Jenna To: Sasha & Malia

If you didn't catch this today, it is very touching. From two girls who have been through things most of us can't even imagine to two girls who are completely innocent to what they're in for. This made me cry both this morning and tonight when I saw it. This also honors President Bush for his 8 years of service to our country. Truly he is a blessed man, no matter what this country says about him.

Early Night

Yep, it's only about 6:30pm and Charity and I are off to bed. Yes, I am. Me, who never goes to sleep before midnight. Well . . . since we have to be at school tomorrow for Cool School (aired live on Channel 4) at 4am! Oh, the price to be a star! Yikes, I personally think it's a sin to be up that early! LOL But a mom's got to do, what a mom's got to do to make her kiddos happy!!

Good early night to you!!

America . . . No Matter What, We're still the Greatest Nation

Yesterday was truly an incredible day in our nation's history. Whether you voted for Obama or not, (and personally I'm still sulking that Palin wasn't on that inauguration stage) there was something special there that you could sense even viewing it on TV. To hear that there was no arrests with some near 2 million people in that area is commendable. Seeing senior African Americans wheeled in their wheelchairs, really made you aware of how remarkable this moment was for them. We, in this day and are, are so unfamiliar with what they have been through, but knowing not long ago blacks and whites didn't mingle, it awakes you to what they may be feeling. Wow! I can't imagine. And our children will know no other way, which is nice.

There are some major issues I completely disagree with that this president supports. We as Christians must know God is completely in control and this is the plan He has for our Nation. Our role is to up lift President Obama in pray. And God who has kept and favored our Nation, by our prayers and supplications, can turn things around as only He is able, not any single man.

As nice as I thought the media portrayed yesterday events, and of course they wouldn't have it any other way . . . I must admit watching Opera today was just a bit much. So I again try to remember why they are so happy. . . okay. Didn't watch too much, but did catch this song that was just released, and while it probably has some deeper meaning I'm not catching, like removing God or something, I think it's a beautiful song and performed with such spirit. Think of it as "This Land is Your Land" . . . :)

25 Random (and Uselss) Things About Me

. . . so I got tagged to do this for facebook and since it took so long, I figured I'd share it on here too. Because I know everybody's dying to know!! Just kidding! :)

1. I used to think Marcia was my friend, but then she tagged me to do these 25 things about me. (Just kidding, Marcia . . . I still love you!)

2. 12 years ago, I married an amazing man, Dave, who truly loves me as Christ loves us.

3. I have a beautiful little 5 year-old princess, Charity Lynn.

4. If mommys and daddys got to pick their children out at a Build-a-Child store, I couldn't have picked a more perfect daughter for me!

5. I am blessed, every day in every way!

6. Dave and I met when we were both working at McDonald's. He worked there for 6 years and still enjoys the food. I worked there for about 6 months and hate the food.

7. I haven't been employed since June 2008, when I was laid off.

8. I'm optimistic I am going to get a job soon, so Charity can stay at the Christian school she is attending.

9. I am scared to send Charity to metro public schools. Sorry they're not the little community schools I'm used to.

10. I was born in Attleboro, the town next to the Patriot's Gillette Stadium.

11. My dad and I moved to Maine when I was three, after my birth mother was killed in a car accident. Dad decided he wanted to go to boat building school.

12. So I grew up on the coast of Maine very near to Canada.

13. I'm in love with The Today Show. Don't bug me until I've had my coffee and Matt, Meredith, Al and Ann.

14. I have these 10 lbs. I take them off, put them on, take them off, etc . . . When they're on, people often ask me if I'm pregnant.

15. I actually have been asked 4 time if I was pregnant and I was just chubby in the belly. Word to the not-so-wise: If you don't know for sure, don't say a word!

16. Speaking of people inserting their foot into their mouth, I've also been asked at least 3 times if Dave, my slightly-older-than-me husband, was my dad! People!!

17. I love my church and very actively involved: teaching Sunday School, singing in choir, a Care Group Co-Leader, and assisting with my husband with the Asian youth group.

18. I am learning Spanish so I know what those people in front of me at Wal*Mart are saying.

19. I love heat and could easily live on the equator!

23. Valentine's Day is my FAVORITE holiday. For real . . . it used to be Christmas, but it's getting to be too much in my old age!

25. I love Facebook (maybe a little too addicted) and all my friends and family I've re-connected with. You all make my life so blessed!!

Running behind . . . the story of my life!

I think I'm starting to like Barack Obama (and Michelle) . . . He was late this morning for the first event of the morning (the prayer service). Yes, anyone that's runs behind schedule definitely quickly moves to the top in my book! :) Hope he make it to the inauguration on time . . . but if not I'm sure they'll wait!

SNOW . . . finally!!

Charity and I had the most perfect Monday, no school, light snow, lots of laughs and crafts, and mostly no schedule and very relaxing. Gotta' love these extra days off, when Daddy's at work.

Yay! SNOW!!

My little snow bunny!

We had so much fun catching individual snowflakes. I sure wish I had a better camera. They were absolutely beautiful. How can people not know God seeing these intricate, frozen creations?
Enjoying some hot cocoa, well actually it's English Coffee cappuccino! What's wrong with my kid that she doesn't like hot cocoa . . . oh well, she'll be a coffee drinker like her mom!

Making paper snowflakes.

Making it snow inside!

See . . . Pretty!

Nana bought this book for Charity when she conquered potty-training (seems like forever ago now!). On days like today, we pull it out and see what we can create. Today we made these ice skater girls complete in their own frozen ponds. It was fun waiting for them to freeze!

Happy Birthday, Dr. King!

martin luther king Pictures, Images and Photos

What an amazing day to celebrate! Martin Luther King was truly an incredible man. I wonder what He would be feeling if He were still alive today, this monumental week. Has his dream been realized? Just something to ponder . . .

Saturday Fun

A typical Saturday for we 3 Cooks. Charity and I here, there and everywhere, Daddy home working on projects: starting painting Gramma's apartment and painting our "new" piano. Poor guy, he's so tired right now!

Had our 1st Women and The Word of 2009 this morning. This is always such an uplifting morning: from the sweet fellowship of my sisters in the Lord, the infalable Word of God, paired with a absolutely scruptious breakfast. And of course, the place was beautiful. I had to sneak out a little early but I did get one picture. The wintery silver and pink were stunning.

Zipped out a little early to take Charity to Emma Grace's (a girl from school) birthday at Dance in Bloom, a local dance studio. Charity went to Summer Camp her when she was 3 and loved it, so she was quite excited about this party and being there with all her little girl friends! Such fun!

"Here we go, up a row, to a birthday party!" . . . sorry some song that was in a piano book I had years ago . . . weird how you never forget some things, and some things you can never remember! . . .

She's a dancing queen!

All the Divas!

Opening Presents
A Lollipop for the road!

Thanks Emma Grace for a super, fun party and a fun-filled afternoon!

The, it was the library to pay our fines (bad us for our late videos). Luckily for just this week they are excepting a canned food for the area food bank for every dollar fee. If you're like me, that's a savings when I had $12 in fees! Oops! So off we carted with our cans.

Then it was home for a lazy, relaxing Saturday evening with dinner and Netflix!

Hope you had a super, fun Saturday, too!

A Day in the Life of a Princess!

You would think Charity would want her mommy and daddy to go out more often. Every time we go out, Gramma throws a party.

Tonight Dave and I had a minister's banquet in Madison. Before we left, the party had already begun, complete with salad (Charity's favorite) on the pink-clothed table, a crown and even presents!! I want her life!

Burrrrrr . . .

I'm laughing because Metro school are closed today due to the: COLD! Isn't that the funniest thing you ever heard of?!? :) Man, if that were the case back home we wouldn't have had school from November through April! And ["you-know-you're-old-when" story] I used to walk to school every day until 6th grade. My jean skirt would freeze, I could barely walk. Truth be known, I could barely walk in it on a regular day, but those cold temps and jean don't really mix just in case you ever need to know!!

Here's the weather for back home right now.

Time: 8 AM
Temp: -19 degrees

And you can know they'll be in school!!

Neat Freak Debunked

I love my Mom!! I just got off the phone with her today and she thought I probably could use to be more relaxed in the "cleaning" department. So for the next few days I'm going spending my days relaxing . . . life away from cleaning, because my Mom said so!! :p

But obviously, since she lives a gazillion miles away, she wasn't at my house on this day last month:
Or this day . . .
Or today as I tried to finish packing the Christmas decorations, but in the meantime you couldn't find the kitchen floor . . .
But, don't tell her . . . because the house is always clean when she comes to visit!

Craigslist is a Waste of my Time!!

I found this while looking for a job on Craigslist. It's so true and it's getting old. I'd say probably 75% of what I apply for are bogus. This is very annoying, when you put so much time and effort into something and get nothing. Glad someone made this post!! Thanks to whoever you are!! :)

Hola!

I've decided to teach myself Spanish. Not sure exactly where this came from. Probably God. I don't often get strong urges to really go through with the ideas that run through my head. I told Dave maybe there are Spanish speaking people in Thailand?

So today I started. Did two online lessons.

1. a = sounds like a in father
2. e = sounds like a in date

This is so I can read it too. I can't wait for the day I walk into Wendy's and order in Spanish!! :) We'll see how far I get. As soon as I began the first lesson, this joy rose up in my chest continuing all the way up to my head making a great big smile appear on my face. I love learning! I love finding out new things. I love making my brain workout. Trouble is my brain doesn't know what to do with this newly acquired data! Guess that happens when you get older. But never the less, I'm on my way. We'll see if 2 years of Latin comes in handy at all!

For now two words . . . Buenos Noches!!

My Little Helper

I've often thought I would have liked to live during the era of servants. How nice would it be to call for my butler to bring me my lunch or have my maid tidy my closet after a whirl-wind morning.

And then I remember, something I had put out of my mind . . .

I don't have to do this all myself. Growing up, I had to make my bed every morning. My mom never made my bed, like I do Charity's nearly daily. I grew so weary of this chore, I would often sleep on top of the blankets to make my morning task easier. So I shared this information with Charity, when I told her I wanted her to start making her bed each morning.

She asked me why I didn't make mine (oops . . . . hypocrite!) But I explained that I make hers and I had made mine fore many, many years.

I never thought much of our conversation and we quickly readied for school and headed downstairs to resume our morning's schedule.

But here's what I found later today upon entering Charity's room!!
I was so proud of her. She even folded her little jammies as I asked. No, it's not the neatest it could be, but it is her first morning of doing it. I even resisted the urge to straighten it up, it's perfect! She'll be a pro before too long and hopefully I continue to push her to do this each morning. Besides a little chore never hurt anyone . . . or did it? My bed's still not made today . . .

Monday's Mess

I had to go to Sears at what used to be known as Bellevue Center to purchase some vacuum cleaner bags for my Kenmore . . . swung by Macy's and there closed until Wednesday . . . okay? My next thought: go load up on vacuum cleaner bags because Sears is probably next!! Pathetic economy!!

Super Saturday

I sure wish all my Saturdays in 2009 are as productive as today. I did so well. Both trees down and out in garage. Lots of decorations away. Just the kitchen left to de-Christmas. Now there's lots of cleaning to be done. . . . oh well, I'll tackle that this week.

Got Charity's and mine clothes ironed for tomorrow and Charity's school uniforms for the entire week! Yay! Lunch is made for tomorrow. Just got to plug in the Crock Pot in the morning and we'll have a hot, spicy Doritos Delight lunch. Yay!

Must have been the Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Latte! I met my buddy, Mysty, this morning and she introduced me to the new Trader Joe's in Green Hills. It's a very cool store and the prices are reasonable. Charity loved the little red carts they have for the kiddos and I got some Roasted Plantain Chips. Yum! And they have little blueberries. Not those big nasty ones. I like my blueberries small. So I'll definitely be heading back.

Then we hit Starbucks. It was the magic that made the whole day a success!!

Now it's off to bed for a good night sleep before a very busy Sunday, that will hopefully be just as productive!

Resolution, smesolution, whesolution . . .

I'm not much for New Year's resolutions. Almost anti to a point, I guess. I have doubts they work, but really I wouldn't know, I don't think I've ever made a resolution. If I have, it was so long ago and obviously it made so little impact on my life, I didn't feel like I needed to make another.

I have set goals/tasks and accomplished them or ignored them and moved on, but just not over a years period. So much can happen from January to December. I don't know, it's quite a stretch. But all the best to those of you that do make resolutions and accomplish them. And even if you don't at least you have good intentions and there's something to be said for that.

This year, 2009, especially, I have no energy to try to make some big change. Don't want to lost weight, though I should. Don't want to organized all the closets in the house, though they really need to be put in some sort of order, don't want to try and cut back on spending in certain areas of our budget, though there are definitely areas that could use some work . . . and the list could go on and on.

But I've got a resolution set for me this year. It's carrying over from 2008, one that I'm already sooooo over, but I must work toward. The outcome is most crucial. And I will know that if I haven't accomplished my goal by the end of the year, it's not going to be good. So I must continue and persevere and keep working toward the finish . . . to find a job. And what a task in this day and age.

My favorite blog in the whole wide world, that I've just been waiting to give the right shout out to: Whatever. I love it! Meg is such an amazing lady. Her blog is awesome! She's so creative. She's honest, writes what she feels and loves Jesus! I even love the name of her blog "Whatever". No super spiffy name, no cute little subtitle. It's perfect to me! When I read her blog today it was like she read my mind. It's exactly how I feel: blah.

Thank you, Meg, for your creative, thought-provoking blog. Thank you for your honestly and sharing yourself and time with all us out here in blog land.

Hope if you read this blog and Meg's, and you're feeling the same way, you'll be encouraged. Though we're not gun-ho and ready to go conquer the world this year, it helped me to know that others feel the same way as me and we'll all get through! One day of 2009 at a time!

Bellevue Macy's Closing

Man! This is the most depressing news of the year. At least Allison called and softened the blow before I heard it on this evening news. Whaaaaaaaaaaaa! :'(

Here's the link with the details:

It just got a little easier to unemployed . . . one less place to be tempted to spend money I don't have!

Destructive Dave

This isn't all he broke today. Also my beloved "Bellevue Care Group" coffee mug from my friend, Lynne, but that was already in the trash before I shot my picture.

By the way, Dave, this is not going to get you out of unloading the dishwasher! :P

Be Sure & Get Your 3D Super Bowl Glasses!!

Allison, this post is for you . . . among others too!! Because everyone needs this information! :)

Intel is providing these cool glasses that will allow you to watch a 3D half time show during the Super Bowl. But what I think is even cooler than that is that, the next day, Monday, February 2nd, there will be a special 3D episode of Chuck, so keep your 3D Super Bowl Specs!! And we all know how much I love Chuck, though I've watched about 30 minutes total this season. :( Hopefully I'll catch it online someday.

Here's the details. The commercial doesn't tell about Chuck. But I'll be sure and post that info if I find it. Enjoy!!

Oh me!

2009 is not going so well for me. I'm blogging this so I can reflect back at the end of the year and see how much better things have gotten . . . I hope!

I woke up this morning with sore throat, stuffed nosed, aching, head pressure, etc . . . I am SO SICK of being SICK!! I finished my Z-pack and allergy meds weeks ago and I don't feel like I've ever completely healed. And today is Charity's first day back to school, so we had to be up early. Yay!! . . . Not! Poor girl, has to put up with her sick Mom all the time. I wish someone would just put me out of my misery . . . no not really, but this is truly getting old!

My computer is running i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-y slow, so I'm not able to apply for jobs very productively. Uuuugggg!

I feel like trash, so the Christmas decorations are not coming down today either.

Yep, I'm believing, for great things this year! My health, a job, a nice computer with a super, speedy Internet connection. And maybe even getting the Christmas decorations down by Easter!! :)

Happy Birthday, Sophie!

We finally made it to Sophie's birthday party . . . it sure wasn't an easy morning. For some reason things were not happening smoothly, typical Monday, of course!

First had a laptop issue, when I had to get something done before hitting the road, and oh the road! The one and only road I take to get there, dead stop, trapped with a car in front and in back. We sat there for at least 20 minutes. Just sitting there. And poor Charity was crying, all upset, she wanted to be at Sophie's party so bad. Well, she should have thought of that before she hit the button that turned my laptop off when it had 18 applications opened and jammed it all up for about half an hour. Urrgggg!! Truthfully, I felt very bad, so it was stressing me out too.

But she was so cute. She said, "Let's pray!" I was so hoping that when we opened our eyes from our prayer, those cars in front of us would be moving. No, but the cars did eventually move, just some 15 minutes after our prayer. Gave me a chance to explain to Charity how God always answers are prayer, just maybe not with the answer we want or in our time frame. Good reminder for me too!

So at the party . . .
Charity decorating her cupcake. Yummy!

Just Another O-o-ordinary Day

Just another one of those busy Saturdays. Started out very early @ Goodwill (the first Saturday of the month, everything's half off). Usually Charity stay homes and sleeps, with Gramma watching her, but she wanted to go with us today. Dave and her went to McDonald's for breakfast while I successfully spend about 1/3 of the Goodwill gift card Gramma/Mom got me for Christmas on Charity. Got her a bunch of cute stuff and me some more glass ornaments. One can never have too many! Don't really need them for a tree, but you never know!

mommy i love you . . . Charity's contribution to my blog tonight! She likes to type on my 'puter. After she finished, I couldn't bare to delete it!!

We came home from Goodwill. Dave and Charity took little nappies and it was off again to do a bunch of errands. By evening time we finally finished up. Grabbed a pizza for dinner and know we're hanging out watching, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. I don't understand it at all, Charity's completely bored with it, though she's enjoys Aslan for the first film. Dave seems to be the most interested, but admits it's a little strange.

That's our day. Charity told me what I needed to include in today's blog, sorry for the boring details. But this is her blog, so I must oblige! :)

Happy Birthday, Kyle!

An exiting Chuck E. Cheese birthday for little Kyle, turning 3!

Still not sure why Charity has been a little stir crazy at home the last few days. We've had something going on almost everyday. I'm exhausted!! But going out today was a nice break and a chance to play with her friends. Gramma also took her to the playground when we got back . . . and she was still driving us batty this evening! I guess I need a 24/7 entertainment crew! :P . . . or just school to get back in session!!

Here's the fun! Racking up the tickets!

Riding on the carousel.

A picture with Chuck E. Cheese

A picture with her good friend, Sophie!

And with Mr. Kyle the Big Birthday Boy!!
