Baby Silkies

If you're looking for the perfect baby gift, look no further. I'm happy to introduce you to the Baby's Silkie.

Naomi, the creator of these snuggly blankies, and I attended high school together. When we recently reconnected and I discovered she had this business, I knew this was where I was headed for my next shower gift!! And I'm glad I did.

When I found out my little sister, Katie, was pregnant, I couldn't wait to order her one. There are sooooo many options for colors and fabrics. Ordering even's fun! I optioned for Jungle Animals. Too cute!! And then the monogramming!! You've got to love that. Anything monogrammed makes it even more special. I know Raistlin will love his!!
Thank you, Naomi, for the perfect gift!! Now, everyone else go get all the little babies you know one: www.babyssilkie.com!

Sick Night

Yep, I was wrong and right too. I was wrong that she wasn't "that" sick, but I was right to keep her home from school. Besides her awful cough, a fever has come on. She took a nice long nap at Gramma's this afternoon and just isn't herself, pretty lethargic. Poor girl. Looks like she probably won't be going to school tomorrow either.

So now us girls are sitting her watching Kit Kittredge: An American Girl while Daddy's at Celebrate Recovery. Man, all I can say is I'm glad I didn't watch this movie before I got a job. Wow-wee! Those times were rough. No wonder they called it the Depression. I'm depressed just watching about it. And I thought our 7 months were hard. But it seems like a really cute movie.

Welp, gotta' run and get Charity another dose of medicine.

Sick Day

Charity doesn't have perfect attendance anymore. :( Obviously that was more my goal for her, than her own. Crazy parent!!

She woke up with an awful cough. She had it yesterday, but it's gotten much worse today. Funny tough, when I told her she couldn't go to school, she all of a sudden took a turn for the best and decided to run down to play at Gramma's. I'm not convinced she's not playing hooky. But better safe than sorry.

Living Vs. Occupying

Today I came to the realization that some days I live and some days I just occupy until He comes. I guess some people call these good days and bad days.

live: /lɪv/ [liv] lived/lɪvd/ [livd] liv⋅ing.
–verb (used without object)
1. to have life, as an organism; be alive; be capable of vital functions: all things that live.

When I live, I am alive. I am happy and full of life.

oc⋅cu⋅py: /ˈɒkyəˌpaɪ/ [ok-yuh-pahy] -pied, -py⋅ing.
–verb (used with object)
1. to take or fill up (space, time, etc.).

When I occupy, I take up space on this planet. Filling my days with useless tasks, just going through the motions. No meaning or purpose other than to past time.

Here's what God's word says about living and occupy:

Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Luke 19:13: And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

And until that day that's what I'll be doing! But praying tomorrow I'll have a "live" day!! :)

A Ruby Tuesday

I love my husband!! Jokingly I asked him if he would give me ride to work today, his day off, and he sweetly agreed without hesitation. So not only did I get a ride to work today, but when he and Charity picked me up at 5pm, we all went to Ruby Tuesday for dinner. There's one right across the street from my office and we've had a gift card for some time. So it worked out to be the perfect evening. We even headed to TJ Maxx for shopping. The perfect Tuesday evening at Ruby Tuesday. Yum! Had me some very yummy Bistro Barbecue Chicken. I think we should make it a Tuesday tradition. Well, I guess that probably won't work. But tonight was sure fun!!

Breaking Rules

Made it through a very busy Monday, a nearly 10 hour day! Yay! Gotta' love overtime. That will come in very handy for my New York trip in May! Whoo hoo!!

Had a little bump in road today. I've been getting a few messages about breaching security for some security monitor through email. Everyone kept saying not to worry about it. Well, I got a call on it today from Mr. Security Monitor. Yikes. Made me feel like a peon. Told the manager. She laughed, brushed it off and said don't worry about it. I still felt dumb. They sent both of us (manager and I) a very official email stating the error of my ways. I still worried. The manager came to me. Still laughing. Told me not to worry. Her and her husband sold the company to a much larger nationwide company last December. So though I was doing things I was told to do, I guess they're not allowed with the new company. I guess nobody has tried to do them since the change as of 01.01.09 or something about their different email accounts. Still scary. Yikes. The manager is awesome. She's so laid back. So finally I was at ease about the situation. Finally. I guess. Still feel a little numb about it. I'm the fraudulent type you know. :p

Nothing like breaking company policy you don't even know exists on a Monday. Tomorrow's a new day. Hallelujah! Now if we could just listen to our Pandora we'll be back in business!

Wiped Out!

I've decided our church's Women's Week of Renewal should rather be called "You Know You're a Real Woman if You Make it Through the Week". As I found, I'm only about a half a woman, because I almost didn't make it through. I felt the pressure building all week. So busy, work and then something every night this week except Monday. Too much for me.

Friday night I came home to the Asian Youth party Dave decided to have. It was a good time, they played games and watch a movie and then Dave was very good about getting them on their way at a reasonable hour, so I could have somewhat of a relaxing evening and get to bed.

Guess I shouldn't have eaten that Roma's pizza that was ordered, because when I woke up Saturday morning I felt absolutely awful. Some sort of stomach bug vexed me all day and I barely left my room all day.

This morning I woke up with another stomach pain. Confused, because I thought that I should be on the mend, Dave suggested this maybe is due to hunger. So I took his advice and nibbled some pretzels he brought to me. It seemed to help. All day I slowly recovered, gaining a little more strength and more of an appetite, but still not feeling right. Finally I woke up from yet another nap at 5pm tonight and felt like I could actually get out of bed.

So I immediately began scurrying around to complete all the weekend choirs, laundry, ironing the weeks outfits, getting lunch ready, back-pack packed with a clean rest towel, etc . . . all that fun stuff.

No "real" rest for the weary and I back off to work tomorrow. Bleeeeech! What a weekend. Poor Dave and Charity, no fun for them. Charity probably can't wait to go to school just to get out of the house! We'll have to do something extra fun next weekend.

Back off to bed now. Hope this thing is finally behind me tomorrow morning.

Renewal: Night 3

Our annual Friendship night, the highlight of our Women's Week, is always really enjoyable. Tonight was no exception and I would say we had a record number of ladies. Wow! We were running getting plates, forks, anything to feed the multitude. Doris & Henry (our yearly comic entertainment) showed up and the ladies donned their Italian costumes. I'm lucky I made it there dressed and in my right mind after a very busy day at work!! Glad I made me food yesterday. It was a great time. Here's the pics:

Renewal: Night 2

Ran home quickly from work. Dave helped me whip up some a couple of things for tomorrow night Friendship night: Taco Dip and Peanut Butter Cup Bars. Then off to her Sis. Donna Linville and tonight's night 2 of Women's Week of Renewal. Of course, Sis. Linville did a great job and now it's off to bed.

Good night!

Renewal: Night 1

Tonight begins our Women's Week of Renewal at First Church. It's should be a nice week, just a little on the busy side.

Tonight was the Care Group Leader's Appreciation Dinner at The Standard downtown. It was a very nice dinner. Lots of bacon, which is a good thing to me!! The main course they call Bacon Wrapped-Bacon. You know you're in the south!! Yummer!!

Pastor Becton drove the church van and decided to take us on a little detour, saying our plans had been changed and we'd be eating dinner at White Castle. Fortunately, our trip to this greasy burger joint was cut short when he caught the church van on the drive-thru clearance sign. Ooops!! Looks like the van was okay and we all went home full with a clear vision cast for the direction of our care groups.

A good night for me and a good night to you!

I ♥ Facebook, hopefully not too much!!

I sure miss my "facebook" time since I've been working. Only get to stop by a few minutes a day. It's sad. I'm definitely having withdrawals. I found this and admit, yes, some are true for me!! :)

10 warning signs that you may be addicted to Facebook

by: Tara Stiles

1. Facebook is your home page.

2. You update your status more than twice a day.

3. You have over 500 "friends" half of whom you've never actually met.

4. As soon as you step away from your computer you're on FB on your phone.

5. You are a FB stalker. You qualify as a FB stalker if you
a) click on someone's profile more than once a day even if they haven't messaged or tagged you in a photo.
b) have dragged and dropped more than 3 FB photos (not from your own profile)
c) actually go to a place mentioned on someone's page in hopes of seeing them in real life...creepy!

6. You change your profile picture more than a 12-year=old girl.

7. You have checked your FB page while reading this article.

8. You clean up your "wall" so it looks like you spend less time on FB.

9. You are a member of more than 10 groups and respond to every event invitation "attending" even if you have no intention of going.

10. You change your relationship status just to mess with people.

The Party

Though it was sad that I missed it, I'm happy Gramma was able to go to Charity's Valentine's Party and join in the fun of these chaotic little events!!

She even snapped some pictures for me. Thanks Gramma!!

Mixed Emotion Friday

I'm super happy it's Friday, but I'm also in mourning this morning . . . Missing Charity's first party at school. No Valentine's party for me. :( And it's Friday the 13th! Oh dear. Hope today turns out better than I expect. At least I only work until 6pm, instead of 7pm that I was originally scheduled!! That's good!

Hope your Friday is all happy!!

What's in there?

Don't you just love kids' imaginations? I wish I could hang out in Charity's head for a day. This morning she was doing this cute little noise and something funny with her tongue as she brushed her teeth. When I asked her what she was doing, she said she was letting people in her "belly wonderland". They got there by riding the elevator down that they entered through her mouth. When they arrived in this Wonderland there were rides and candy.

. . . sounds like fun! Love her little imagination! :)

Happy 100th Day of Kindergarten!!

My little 100 year-old Charity! Watch out, I'll hit you with my cane!
Showing her saggy stockings!
Don't even think of taking one of my 100 gumballs!
Charity and her little "old" friend, Kylie at school.

Charity loved this! What a fun day at Kindergarten!! And I heard that Charity enjoyed her little, old lady outfit so much, she got back into after school and made Gramma take her for a walk around the neighborhood. :P Hope I'm so happy to get old!!

Ready, Set, Go!

Somebody learned to ride her bike WITHOUT the training wheels today!! Lucky for me, who was at work when it happened, Grumpy caught it on film! What a special treat for Grumpy to be here when this happened. Now Charity's counting down the days until the weekend, when Mommy can see her new learned skill. Potentially more pictures on the way!

Show~N~Tell

Charity decided she wanted to bring her brand-new baby cousin to school for show-n-tell. Since he's a billion miles away, this is the best mommy could do. Hope it works!!

Smooches for Raistlin Isaac!! xo xo xo

A Weekly Update

News here on the Cook Front . . . since I don't get to blog too much these day.

Work for me is going much better than last week. Enjoying it and still picking up lots things. I'm a temporary employee, so I'm always worried they'll be done with me one day, but I know God's got that all under control.

Dave is doing good, recovering from his 6 day work week last week and doing lots and lots to keep the house running smoothly, as well as helping me with a bunch of baking this weekend for a bake sale our Asian Church. He does a really good job handling it all! I love you, Dave!

No cute little Charity stories since I only see her about 2 hours a day and that's when I'm getting her ready for school and ready for bed. :( However, she's has had 2 warnings at school last week and one today. And it's only Tuesday!! I half expected this when I began working, but am not happy about it at all. I have emailed the teacher for any suggestions with this. And they're not for being bad, but just not paying attention or talking/laughing at the wrong time. Uuggg! Hope this stage passes soon!

Grumpy arrived today and will be with us until next Tuesday! We're all very happy about that, especially Charity! I'm sure I'll have pictures coming up this weekend when it should be a little warmer. . . . and maybe I'll update my blog for February. Hummmm, always lots to do!!

That's about it around here. Just life as we know it now. Hope yours is good!

Good night!!

Meet Raistlin Isaac

The newest member of the Bridgham family!! Born yesterday at 5:11pm, 7 lbs. 15 ozs.! Poor Katie worked so hard for this little guy. She went to the hospital first thing Friday morning . . . something like 41 hours later . . . it's all worth it though, isn't it!?!?!
Isaac makes me cry because it was the name that Dad wanted for Katie if she were a boy or if he ever had a boy. Didn't happen, well, my step-twin-brother Travis came already named! lol! But Dad got his Isaac!! :)

Here's the happy family and the very proud Nana!!
Congratulations Katie and Jason! We love you lots!!! Can't wait to meet Raistlin in May!
