Teeth and Party Invitations

Another busy day today!

Charity had a dentist appointment, so I was able to leave work early to accompany her to it. Her teeth look good. They are just still suggesting we clip some little piece of gum that is attaching her upper lip to the gums of her top teeth. And now they're also suggesting we clip her tongue. We are aware that she is tongue-tied, but all her pediatricians have said that this procedure is not necessary. Am going to definitely do some research on this. And maybe a second option, as well.

We also completed all the party invitations! Check. We limited it to 10 girls, so this SHOULD be manageable . . . I'm hoping.

Yay for another productive day! And we even knocked a couple of rooms off the mile-long cleaning list. :D

'Nite for now!!

Check. YAY!

Ahhhhhhhh, Monday! To make it through is an accomplishment, but to get through and accomplish something. That is awesome!!!

After I got home from work we did banking, grocery shopping and scheduled Charity's 6th birthday party! Yay! That's a big task that's been haunting me for awhile. So now all the other preparations: theme, cake, etc. . .

We also have company coming in this weekend, so still lots of cleaning to be done. But it's time to get some sleep. So I'll save that for another day!

My New Favorite Thing

Obviously I have some self-control issues. Last night around nine, I decided I wanted a root beer float. So instead of going to Sonic and just getting one, we opted for Publix where we could purchase the necessary supplies for an abundance of root beer floats. Great!

The three of us have successfully finished our near 1/2 gallon of natural vanilla ice cream and the A&W root beer is about a cup away from being gone. Though Dave and Charity have decided they like theirs better served separately, I think I'm addicted . . . one last night, one with lunch and another after dinner this evening. I probably would have had one for breakfast, except Sunday morning's schedule doesn't allow for that.

That stuff is not allowed back in my house!!!!

Broadway Girls

He we are. Us SSA girls at TPAC. It was a great show with fun music. We all want the soundtrack!!

"Handy" Mandy and Me

The Ginger Girls: Sara and Megan

4 girls of the SSA Department *minus Melissa, who wasn't able to attend.
And, FYI, I'm NOT pregnant in this picture, just a photo trick with Mandy's dress, a mean trick! :) There seemed to be a little confusion on another website concerning this. So figured I set it straight here!!

A Night on Broadway

I'm so excited . . . heading to Legally Blonde "The Musical" at TPAC with 3 of the girls from work. Should be fun! The Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner . . . like I need that, but yummy! Especially with a pizza party tomorrow at work. It's been a bad week for eating good. Starting back next Monday . . . uuuuugggg!

Itchy, itchy!

Poor Dave. Somewhere, somehow he picked up some itchy, poisonous stuff. Maybe ivy, maybe oak. We're not sure. So he phone me on the way home from work and I picked him up a tube of relief. Hopefully he'll be on his way to itch-free recovery.

LV Freak!

My co-worked spotted this LV ride on the way to work this morning (and risked her life to catch up with it and get a picture for me)! She's sweet! She said it was quite the set of wheels with much additional bling on the interior. It cracks me up!! I thought I was an LV freak, but this may be a little much . . .

Thanks Megan for the picture!

Blogging from the BlackBerry

I'm so excited because my phone has finally given me access to my Blogger dashboard allowing me to blog mobile-ly!! Do you know how happy this makes me?!?! It's tricky and small, but I think I'll manage. Yay! I have no excuse to neglect blogging now! This is a TEST entry. So stay tuned, they'll (may)be more!

. . . But don't hold your breath! :)

The Who? Brothers

Apparently I'm a little archaic or behind the times, because when this morning Today Show was reporting the largest crowd ever in their history, I realized I didn't know one song from the performing Summer Concert Series featured artist: The Jonas Brothers. Felt a little out of loop. Am I getting old? Is this what being 30 does to you?

I am, however, rather familiar with The Clark Brothers. Does that count for anything? :) We actually attend the same church when they aren't recording or winning some great award like they did on "The Next Great American Band" last year. Pretty neat! I can probably even sing along with some of their songs. Maybe they should be on The Today Show?!?!
Here's some shots from of myself and friends, Valarie, Brittany and Brian, taken Downtown last year when they played at CMA Fest.

Hopefully I'm not a complete music moron!! :)

It is hot, hot, hot!

Let me just say I love it when I walk out to my car first thing in the morning and it's already hot outside. I know, very selfish, since I work in a freezing cold air-conditioned office building. But it's soooo nice. And knowing when my work day is done the warm-air will still be there. It doesn't look like it's going to be letting up any time soon. Yay for pool time!

I will never be ungrateful for finally living in a warm climate. Ahhhhhhh!

They're Back!! :)

I take back all the bad things about Sam's Club. Man . . . who ever thought $2.24 and 15 minutes could bring such happiness! Yay!

Today wasn't feeling too productive. We got up early did some yard sale-ing, some grocery shopping and then home for a nice nap. Decided later to head out to Sam's Club and pick up my contacts. Remembering the photo kiosk was right next to the Optical Department, I thought for fun I'd bring my little messed up memory stick and see if it was able to read my pictures. Yes, yes! It was a great idea! Because I was able to recover about most of them. Still lost a few, but I couldn't be happier!!! Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord!!

I am so happy my very unproductive day, turned into a very successful evening.

And Charity decided after stopping at the Sam's snack bar for an Icee, we should head next door to the mini golf course. Very, very cheesy and not kept up at all. And since I had my camera, I got some shots. But Dave ban me from publishing them, for embarrassment of someone finding out we went to such a run-down establishment. Oh my! :)

But I've now got lots of picture editing and posting to do . . . so I'm off.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Thursday's {Random} Thoughts

Ok, so I don't feel so bad about my poor 'ole neglected blog. Heard on the radio this morning, that 95% of blogs have been abandoned, meaning no new posts in over 120 days. Whoa! I'm not that bad. Yay! We'll see if I can keep The Cook Book in that small 5% that are still out there . . . even if it is 100 days between entries! :)

In other, completely unrelated news, as we were watching the evening news one of the reports mentioned some changes in the metro school structure. Essentially they'll be some cutbacks, various positions including teachers and such, as well as security personnel. They said to compensate for having less security officers, teachers would be asked to help out in this area. Oh my! And these schools aren't really know for how safe they are.

What impressed me with the whole incident, was Dave's reaction to the broadcast. "She'll [Charity] never go to that school system." Wow! I was impressed. Does anybody remember last years blog postings about this time, when we were wondering what we were going to do about Charity's schooling? I really felt Dave was just agreeing to send her to Christian school, because it was so important to me. I'm so happy we're both on the same page now. It stinks to have to be up at 5:30 Monday through Friday, spend over 1 hour in the car and work 40 hours a week. But I'm so glad I'm able to fund Charity's education. God's good!!

@ Work

Since our SSA (Social Security Administration) department at work went from 1 in December, to 2 in January when I was added and now 6, we've got a little free time on our hands, but just a little. They've given us permission to read in our "down" time, but we've also (re)discovered MS Paint. Oh dear . . . well, they have. I'm not quite as talented.

So Megan (far right) did a department picture. The bird is the SSA logo. Pretty amazing, huh? I love how skinny I am!! Then Megan had a little more spare time and since we're so super, she decided to make us heroes. Yes, of course, I'm Wonder Woman! Yes, we rock! Or as I like to say, Talx Rox!! :) Glad we're able to have a little fun on the job . . . sometimes! But nobody likes it when it's time to buckle down and work. And who has to tell them? Well, some one's got to be the bad guy! Just kidding, they wouldn't listen even if I paid them!!! All I can say, is at least I've got a good bag!!! Thank you, Sarah, for this lovely portrait of the evil me! Now I don't even need a mirror!! Too bad they wouldn't let us have Solitaire on our computers. We'd all be the Solitaire Champs!! :)

Eye C U

Nope. That didn't last long. Tonight just got crazy and no pool time for us girls. Whhhhhaaaa! :( Oh well. There's always tomorrow . . .

On a very happy note, I went to Sam's Club and purchased some much needed contacts. Yay!

I have done lots of research and it was supposed to be the cheapest. And they were in our health care network for any amount that wasn't covered by insurance. But then you had to be a member. So then they had some deal going on. And then they didn't. And every person you talked to said something different. Just like Wal*Mart that I dislike soooooo bad. So yeah, Sam's is right up there with them. Yuck! But somehow we got our membership for free in the end. OK. Whatever. Their mistake. And then the contacts weren't even the deal they had originally described to me. Uuuuuggg. At this point, it's been so long. I had to do it. People!!

So I'll be looking forward to a fresh set of "eyes" and to head back to Sam's with our free membership.

Life Lately

Oh, I've been such a bad blogger lately. I hate that. So many things happen, so blog-worthy, but I run out of time and energy and before I know it a week's gone by with no blog. Sad! I guess that's life. I will try to catch up and try again to post more faithfully.

Besides that my goal this week is to go in the pool every night after work with Charity. It's supposed to be hot or low 90's, so we'll see if I can pull that off. We both enjoy the time together and sleep so well after a little pool time, not that I need any help sleeping these days. 5:30am comes soooo early!

I haven't been able to recover my missing Florida pictures yet, but I haven't really had a chance to try. So I'm hoping I can accomplish that this week.

In news on my mom, she had a little setback this past weekend, another seizure. She's back in the hospital. I know she'd much rather be home, but at least she's able to receive care around the clock. I pray they're able to diagnose the problem and stabilize her treatments. It's one day at a time and we're totally trusting God. Thank you so much for your prayers!

Well, off to try and get caught up on more of this crazy life!!

Dearly Loved by Jimmy Needham

I heard this song for the first time today. Couldn't find a music video for it, found this one on youtube.com. The presentation's a little on the cheesy side, but the song is awesome! Check it out:

Sweet Treat!

Oh, wow! Have I made a fantastic discovery!?!?

This stuff is amazing!! Last summer I spotted it at Costco and have dreamt of it ever sense. Well, almost! When the monthly Costco coupons came with a coupon for them, I couldn't resist. And I'm glad I didn't. These sorbets are so cool! Each in a real fruit shell. Yums! Charity had orange and I had coconut tonight. They are not lying when they advertise: "A Vacation in Every Bite". It's true, go see for yourself!! :)

* bad pictures on camera phone . . . yuck! :)
