I'm not sure why I try. And with a name like mine, I have no excuse. But for some unknown reason, I gave in and did something I don't usually do. I agreed to bring a meal to a brand new mommy and daddy. Poor souls.
Started today with a six hour worked day. Rushed from there to meet Charity at her doctor's for her yearly check-up and then home to whip up their meal up. I had already done some preparation last night so I didn't figure it wouldn't be a big deal. Threw my spaghetti pie together. Put the salad and bread in a bag and headed to bring them their dinner.
All went well, dropped it off. They were thankful. I met their little guy - it was all good.
Until I got home. And discovered that layer #2 that goes between the noodles and sauce in my spaghetti pie was still sitting in the fridge! Uuuugggg! :( I was so upset. If you're not familiar with spaghetti pie, if would be like leaving the ricotta out of lasagna. Oh my!! Probably not the worst thing, I could have done, but it's pretty bad. And in my eyes - just horrible!!
Poor folks. I was feeling so awful. Moaning and complaining at what an awful cook I am. When Charity injected, "Mom, it's fine. God can reach in the fridge and put it in for you." I must have had a look of disbelief on my face because she continued, "He's God. He can do anything."
I love her! It took me awhile, but eventually I took on her faithful spirit and believed that only God could fix the mistake I'd made or at least make it taste edible!
He's God! He can do anything!!

Heaven is Blessed Today
. . . in it's new angel. But we here on earth will mourn a great loss.
This life is so full of questions. Why Violet left us so early is the one that is perplexing my mind this evening. She was an amazing lady. She has a family, loving husband, young daughter and a son. I first met Violet helping out with weddings at First Church and learned so much from her. She was so extremely talented. She battled cancer for a few years now. Her fight ended today. I'm sure she's celebrating her win tonight around the throne!
Violet, you will be so missed. Your faith in God and courage through this was remarkable. You lit up the room with your positive attitude. I am blessed to have known you, learned from you and called you a friend even if for a short time.
Please remember the Bockhouse family in your prayers.

It's here . . .

It's that beautiful time of year again! I love it! And we always have lots of fun {extra} activities planned. Oh! Yay! I love Fall! And even more amazing . . . I got the blog background changed on schedule. This is AMAZING!! Not two months too late. I still need to do the header, so consider this blog still "under construction". But I just had to stop by and wish everyone a HAPPY FALL!

Scrumptious Saturday
One lazy Saturday AM, Charity and I whipped up some pancakes. Ahhhh, good times, yummy eats!

Chocolate chip . . . plenty for everyone.

Then this place {The Friendly Toast} Dave's cousin mentioned on facebook that has Heath Bar and Almond Joy pancakes inspired me to make some with mini Reese's PB cups and rainbow sprinkles. You can't mess up a pancake.

1st Girl Scout Outing!
@ the Skate Center . . . playing games!

PIZZA!

Charity and Macy

Off on the skates, but a little to scared for the "real" skate floor.

Finally she was brave enough with a little encouragement. But it's not as easy as it looks.

She's so Funny!!
Due to parent/teacher meetings tomorrow, Charity has a day off from school. Tonight as she pondered what she'd do with her free time, in her most facetious voice possible, says, "Raise your hand if you have to go work or school tomorrow."
Dave and I looked at each other rolling our eyes and raised our hands as she kept hers pressed to her lap and begins laughing hysterically. Funny!
Little bugger!! But even at a young age, she knows how great a day off is.

Kids Need Tags
Charity had her first girl scout meeting today. From what I can tell (Dave picked her up) there's only one other girl in her Daisy division. But they are involved with the Brownies, so events won't be so small. She really enjoyed it and liked getting her new handbook, smock and the bag of badges Mom gets to iron on. Oh, what fun!! :) It's worth it though.
Their first activity is planned for a skate and pizza party in a few weeks. She's so excited!
And we are too. It's so nice to see her getting out and enjoying something with girls her age. I've always encouraged [made] her to do some sort of activity. We've tried gymnastics, ballet and she's even doing her second year of cheer leading. But there always seem to be a struggle. But with girl scout she's barely had one bit of resistance. Yay!
It's been six years, but I think I'm finally figuring her out! Now, why didn't she come with a little tag: Doesn't like Gymnastics. Ballet's not really my thing. I love girl scouts.
Yes, kids need to come with these things. 'Cause we sure would like to know which foods she likes to eat!!

The Benefit of Working

Today was soooo nice. I thoroughly enjoyed having an extra, no-agenda planned, day. Ahhhhh! I was able to get the house all clean on Friday night so I could enjoy this long weekend. Smart! So I thought today I would like to get out the Fall decorations. But didn't want to stress out about it if I didn't get to it.
But, I did!! Yay! And just like every year prior, I hauled everything out and strew all the leaves and pumpkins, scarecrows and everything else imaginable from one side of the house to the other, with boxes and bags all over the place, and then lose steam. Uugggg! Well, Dave and Charity were having a movie marathon. I really just wanted to be with them. And as I sat there enjoying time with my family, the boxes of Fall paraphernalia haunted me. And I knew I only had one choice: finish what I started. So I did! And boy, did it feel good when I put those rubber totes back out in the garage and returned to my freshly, Fall-decorated abode.
It may not seem like a big deal, but I don't think I've ever taken on a this task in just one day. Usually the goods remain strewn for days as I slowly put everything in its place. Not this year. I just couldn't possibly return to work tomorrow with my nice, clean house and then, such clutter everywhere. So I got 'er done!
So for once, yay for work! And that it encouraged me to complete the job started. Guess it's not all bad! :) The paycheck is nice, too!!
