Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Matching on my Birthday . . . of course!!
I had an absolutely glorious day!! A little sad that next year will be the big 3-0. But over all it was a very, happy birthday. I could have easily done without work and the meeting, but I guess those things have to happen.
Thursday's the day I don't start work until 11, which is a nice change in the week. So for starters, I got to

sleep in!! Yay! That always starts my day off right. I just lounged in bed with my laptop (that's been working fairly well! Thank the Lord!) until I heard from the Princess Quarters, "Happy Birthday to you . . . . . . . Moooooommmmm!!" Turn on the faucet first thing!! She can tear me up!! Her first thought this morning was of her Mom! I told Dave if nobody else did another thing for me today, that would keep me smiling all day! She came into my room, where I was informed that we must immediately go down to Gramma's. Upon reaching the basement, Dave and Charity bought me some beautiful flowers, Swedish Fish (my favs!!), and Dunkin Donuts!!! Another serious weakness of mine. And not just one, but two!! Oh, I didn't think things could have gotten any better!! Charity did some beautiful artwork for me, that she had wrapped and so kindly unwrapped for me. She's been working on this

picture frame for me for a long time and decided to give it to me even though it's not quite finish. I love it!! It's constructed mostly of beads she's found outside where some little girl's necklace must have broke. The best part of Charity's gift was the card she picked out!! Oh dear . . . she convinced the picture on the front looks just like me and couldn't hardly laughing upon showing me. She did the same reaction, Dave said, when she found it in the store and also when she brought it home to show Gramma. The inside says, "So much for aging gracefully." which I was able to quickly overlook when I saw how beautifully she had written: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOVE CHARITY".

And the "cake" she made (notice the 29 at the bottom!! Love it!!):

. . . . and you knowing I'm not!

Charity and I enjoyed some Swedish Fish for breakfast and then I headed off to start working with my donuts and coffee in hand. Had my work meeting at noon and it messed with my nerves a little. So since it is my birthday, I headed to Sonic to treat myself to a Hazelnut Java Chiller (a glorified coffee milk shake) but a yummy lunch none the less. Since I was headed in that direction anyway, instead of coming straight home, I stopped by T.J. Maxx to see what they had to offer in the Dooney & Bourke department (still on quest for the perfect gift for myself!). Not too much, some very little ones marked drastically down. But way too petite for all my tonnage.
Back home to finish out working for a few hours.
And then it was off to birthday dinner!! We've had this ad for some time for El Chico's. It shows some absolutely scrumptious-looking Chocolate Nachos I've been just dieing to try. So off to Rivergate we go.
Charity in the car with her new shades!

Acting silly!

When we got there, there were no Chocolate Nachos to be found. Come to find out, they don't have them any more. :( So sad . . . anyway I enjoyed my variety plate of tostados (beef, bean & chicken). It just happened to be Kid's Night,

so Charity's meal was $0.99! Yay, Happy Birthday checkbook. And there was a lady making things with balloons for the kids. Charity got a butterfly hat and Dave informed the balloon lady it was my birthday. She made me a "celebration hat". I wore it all during dinner!!

Then there was this little funny, guy (probably 5) sitting in the table across from us that Charity was absolutely fascinated by. So much she didn't notice she had ice cream on her nose!! She's such a little flirt!! I don't know where she gets it, but it definitely wasn't me!

So with no Chocolate Nachos I opted for some fried ice cream and then Charity didn't want anymore of her Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae, so I couldn't let that go to waste!! There's no rule that says you can only have one dessert on your birthday . . . or any day for that matter!! And if you know of one, don't tell me!

All my goods!!
What an awesome, blessed day!!
I am so thankful for another year of kind friends, great health, and a loving family!!
