Wow! I am excited! I just ordered our Christmas cards TODAY from Costco and they'll be ready tomorrow!! Can you believe it? I'm shocked. I was thinking at least a week. Usually I order them from Vistaprint, and they have by far more options and lots of lovely choices. But times being as they are, we opted (well, I opted, Dave said skip the cards this year! GRINCH! :P) for a more economical option.
Christmas Village gets my brain thinking along the Christmas lines, but usually I have to wait until it's over to start what I've been thinking. Which is why it's some time after Christmas Village/Thanksgiving that I order cards and have Charity's Christmas pictures taken. Now . . . if I could somehow think of it before, man! would I be ahead of the game!!
So anyway, back to the cards, when I order them for Vistaprint the week after Thanksgiving they take a week or so even when expedited. I can't tell you how elated I am that I'll have them in my hot, little hands tomorrow at 11am!! And I will have to wait until the shopping and Charity's pictures are in before I mail some of them, but for the majority can be sent out by this weekend, December 6th! Wow!!
I know, craziness. . . when most people don't even send snail mail cards anymore. But I love them and love getting them. My personal goal is to catch up with Dave's Aunt Charlotte. She's so good. We actually just got one from her today! And dear, sweet Geneveive! We got her's today too. Maybe next year I have them order by Thanksgiving! Wishful thinking, I know! ;)
Charity and I did so good getting the playroom tree up in a timely manner. Well, not so much with the downstairs one. I got it up. But haven't felt like donning it. Uugggg. And she's been bugging me. When? When? When? Not to mention I haven't done any decorating. Get with it Diana!! I love this time of year! I'm just having more fun looking at everyone else's decorations online than doing my own. Lazy!! I have put away all the Harvest/Fall stuff though. Hey, it's a start!
So today I am starting on this second tree. I am reminded of why I hate, hate, HATE fake trees. *Previously when Dave had mentioned moving from the state of Maine, I adamantly protested I would never, ever, ever move where I couldn't get a real Christmas tree. So what happened?* Here I am in Tennessee and my hands are all scraped, cut up and dry from stringing lights on this dry, scratchy, fake tree . . . and it doesn't even smell good!!!! Oh, to take a visit to Albee's Tree Farm in East Machias. For just $5.00/foot I can get such a great tree. Nope, not here in the dried-up tree state. Oh, yes, we do get those nice, lush, smelling-oh-so-good trees from the New England states, but do you know how much one of those babies cost?? A good one is at least a $150 and that's only about 5-6 feet tall. Dave will have nothing to do will spending that much money on something that is thrown away after about a month. I guess, it's kinda' a waste of $, but I really, really miss my real tree! :(
Folks, it just doesn't get any better than this!!! This is Christmas!!
