1st Church Celebration

What a nice weekend it's been. Of course, as all good things it too must come to an end.

Yesterday I was able to meet Allison at Goodwill and take in all the good deals at the monthly 1/2 off sale. Can't beat, cheaper than cheap stuff. For a little over 20 bucks, I think I got 7 things and Charity got 8! Bargains by the bagful . . . to that I say Hallelujah!!

After shopping, I headed to First Church to assist in getting setup for the annual indoor picnic. Most things were in place, so after a little instruction from Sis. Becton, Valerie and I set off to make "firecracker bursting with red, white and blue" centerpieces. I guess I was having so much fun today, I'm sad I didn't get more pictures of our completed work.

And then since I was having no luck finding Charity the perfect outfit for today's event. Dave and I set off for my favorite fabric store, Textile Fabrics. I always head here as a last resort, when I can't find what I'm looking for. Once home, I washed the fabric for the perfect outfit I had in my head, and at about 7 pm, I started on her outfit. Call me crazy. Then when I realized the white T I need to applique was stained, we had to go to Wal-Mart to pick up a new one. Yeah, I crawled in bed about 3 am this morning, but I liked what Charity wore today. And I made it big enough, we should be able to use it next year too. Dave came into my office about 11 pm and just looked at me and shook his head. He said, "You know, you're crazy." I agreed with him and said, "But, I love it!!" Now if I could just get paid for sewing for Charity, she's the only one that I can work up the ambition to do anything for!!

The service was very patriotic and I'm glad to be done with those lovely songs . . . not my favorite to sing. What do you do when you're singing, "This is our country . . . " I so hate just standing there singing. I am not a performer. If I can't close my eyes, raise my hands, clap, anything to keep from just standing there, I hate it. It's so uncomfortable. I don't know how the Mormon Tabernacle Choir does it. Not for me. Guess it's ADHD!! Anyway, done for another year.

Sherralyn and I had on the same color scheme! We had to wear a navy skirt, but the top was our choice: red, white or blue. . . . yeah, we're cool!!!

One of the only pictures I took at the picnic. Wish I got more of all the cuties.

Charity and Emma

Ate our yummy spaghetti and BBQ . . . gotta' be Southern. Holly . . . this doesn't match, does it?!?!? Had cotton candy and snow cones, so carefree and fun, yet so American!!

And now we've got the afternoon to relax and enjoy since there's no evening service. Some of us will be looking for a job . . .
