Productive Saturday

Nothing too exciting going down today. We went out early (well, as early as I get out) to hit Goodwill today. The first Saturday of the month every thing's half off. Dirt cheap or should I say "dirty" cheap. I got a jean skirt, 2 pairs of jeans to turn into skirts (like I need one more sewing project!!!), 2 really cute dresses (white Old Navy and an adorable custom-sewn one) all for Charity. I picked up two skirts and a AE shirt and Dave got a book all for 16 buckaroos!! Whoo hoo!! Gotta' love a bargain. Don't love how "yucky" I feel when we're done, though. Our next stop was back home to wash our hands!! Yeah, we're kinda' germ freaks you might say.

Speaking of dirty . . . Charity has noticed today that there's homeless people sleeping under the interstate overpass about 3 miles from our house. Yikes!! Dave and I never really have seen this until today when Charity mentioned a man under the bridge. I can't say it makes me all happy. I know it's a free country and they're allowed to live there, but it's kinda' sad to see that pillow and blanket up there on the concrete. Dave immediately stated that this was why it would be better to raise Charity in Maine. However I feel it's good for her to see it, and unlike myself she'll not be so intimidated by the city when she grows up. It's a fact of life, not that it's pretty. Do I like that it's so close to our house? No. We think it may be because they're trying to clean up Downtown of the riffraff. As I grew indignant that these "bums" are camping so close to our domain, God immediately brought to my mind the lyrics of Israel Houghton's song Deeper .

God, give us a heart, give us a heart.

Give us Your heart God, give us a heart.

Deep cries out to deep.

God, give us a heart, give us a heart.

Give us Your heart God, give us a heart.

For the least of these.

Guess there's not too much I can do for them. But I won't get "mad" that they want shelter under the overpass. I think every time I pass through there, I'll pray for those men that they find a home, for their own benefit . . . and I'll not lie, for my peace of mind!!

Once our hands were clean, back out we headed. Next stop Costco, were we got our gas and picked up a few things. I think I've eaten 1,000 calories today! Between all the yummy samples and my stop at snack bar. Oh dear, and then we bought this pack of 12 humongous muffins ~ corn, chocolate, blueberry and poppy seed. Mind you, after I stopped to taste the sample, I had to have more. (In case you were wondering if that sampling-stuff works!?! It does . . . that's why they do it!!) Of course being Costco a dozen is the smallest amount you can get. Whoo . . . it's going to be a bad week! I can tell all ready!

Next was H.G. Hill, our little local grocery store. Today was actually the last day that it's open. :( Kinda' sad since they always have some good deals on meat. And the final stop was Aldi where we always do very well making the grocery budget go really far.

Then it was home for the day, a full, productive day, I might say . . . and lots of groceries to put away! Thank you Lord for your blessings!! Charity's really tired and Dave's headed off to Asian prayer meeting tonight. I think us girls are going to have some dinner (well, Charity . . . I'm not eating anymore today!!) and head to bed good and early!
